1 Romanian firefighter dies, 7 injured

Romanian officials say one firefighter has died and seven have been injured while trying to put out a fire in a sprawling shopping area on the outskirts of Bucharest.

Emergency services spokeswoman Anca Onofrei says the firefighter died saving a colleague when a wall partially collapsed on him at the Red Dragon Market.

Onofrei says the fire which burned for five hours early Wednesday in a section of a warehouse got out of control despite efforts to contain it.

Emergency medical services chief Bogdan Oprita said one firefighter has second- and third-degree burns on half his body.
